Friends of Flat Rock Library Bring Stuffed Animals to Life with ‘Build-A-Friend’ Fundraiser
The Flat Rock Friends of the Library hosted their third “Build-A-Friend” event on November 17. The popular event is a heartwarming fundraiser that brings families together for a creative and fun afternoon
In the weeks leading up to the event, participants purchased “Build-A-Friend” kits that included everything needed to create a cuddly companion: a soft plush animal, stuffing, a special Wish Star, a birth certificate, and a carry bag.
During the event, participants were guided step-by-step as they stuffed their new “friend,” making the experience hands-on and memorable. After the animals were completed, everyone gathered to bring their new friends to life and took part in a short “Wish Star Ceremony,” making the experience extra memorable for children and adults alike.
This event sold 70 kits, along with festive accessories like Christmas hats and scarves, and optional sound modules. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of our community, the Friends raised over $400 to benefit the Flat Rock Public Library.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for the event to become an ongoing tradition. The “Build-A-Friend” program not only provided an enjoyable experience but also raised meaningful funds to support future library initiatives, demonstrating the value of creative, community-centered events.
