‘Puzzle Palooza’ Raises Spirits and Funds for Spring Lake District Library
The Spring Lake District Library is hosting its third annual “Puzzle Palooza” on Nov. 22 for jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts. It’s a fundraiser that brings together Friends of all ages, with teams of 2 to 4 contestants trying to beat the time clock, as each team sorts and snaps together a 500-piece puzzle. And, everyone goes home with a prize, as local businesses have donated refreshments, gift cards, puzzles, and more to encourage the community to participate in the fundraiser.
Some puzzlers need a half hour, and some take more than an hour to finish. But, regardless, they all have fun chatting and enjoying food and beverages while hunting for the right pieces. Participants are encouraged to bring cash to purchase various puzzle themed frames, buttons, and magnets while waiting for other teams to solve the puzzle.
Specially designed buttons and magnets created by the Friends with puzzle themed sayings like, “I’d go to pieces” or “One piece at a time!” are available for purchase. Some teams eager to show off their team spirit have even shown up to compete in costumes!
The Friends of the Spring Lake District Library are FOML members dedicated to helping their library all year round with many events, activities, and fundraisers. More than 70 volunteers, with over two dozen active members, enjoy creating ways to get the word out about their group using social media, a quarterly newsletter, flyers, and local radio.
For more information about this dynamic group of Friends or to plan your own puzzle competition, contact the Spring Lake District Library or email their treasurer Kathleen Golaszewski Kathygfriendsldl@gmail.com who can advise you on how to get started puzzling!
