‘Puzzle Palooza’ Raises Spirits and Funds for Spring Lake District Library

The Spring Lake District Library hosted its third annual “Puzzle Palooza” on Nov. 22 for jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts. The fundraiser brought together Friends of all ages, with teams of 2 to 4 contestants trying to beat the time clock, as each team sorted and snapped together a 500-piece puzzle. And, everyone went home with a prize, as local businesses donated refreshments, gift cards, puzzles, and more to encourage the community to participate in the fundraiser.

Some puzzlers needed a half hour, and some took more than an hour to finish. But, regardless, they all had fun chatting and enjoying food and beverages while hunting for the right pieces. Participants were encouraged to bring cash to purchase various puzzle themed frames, buttons, and magnets while waiting for other teams to solve the puzzle.

Specially designed buttons and magnets created by the Friends with puzzle themed sayings like, “I’d go to pieces” or “One piece at a time!” were available for purchase. Some teams eager to show off their team spirit even showed up to compete in costumes!

The Friends of the Spring Lake District Library are FOML members dedicated to helping their library all year round with many events, activities, and fundraisers. More than 70 volunteers, with over two dozen active members, enjoy creating ways to get the word out about their group using social media, a quarterly newsletter, flyers, and local radio.
