United for Libraries is a division of the American Library Association (ALA) and is a descendant of the former “Friends of Libraries USA,” and the “Association for Library Trustees and Advocates” (ALTA) organizations.
United for Libraries is a group focused on the advocacy of public libraries through the support and continuing education of Library Friends, as well as Trustees and Advocates.
The bulk of the website is available only to members of the United for Libraries division. However, the Library of Michigan has purchased a statewide membership for all Michigan public libraries. This membership includes access to members-only content. All Michigan public library friends members and library staff are invited to explore the United for Libraries site at: http://www.ala.org/united/ and sign up for their own account as a member of the Michigan library community.
